I just returned from mataking resort, semporna. While we put up one night in Seafest Hotel in Semporna, we went to Sigamata for dinner. Reason being lobster was sold out in the dragon inn restaurant in Semporna though it costs RM250/- per kg. We were informed that lobster were available in Sigamata and price was lower at RM180 per kg.
Sigamata is a floating restaurant with lodging facilities. There are only few rooms available. Each room has 4 beds. The room charge is about RM50 to RM80/- per person per night inclusive of 3 meal a day. It is about 10 minutes by boat from Semporna jetty. The office is just nearby Hotel Seafest. Within its compound it has an enclosed area with lots of fish big and small for guest to do snorkelling at RM50/- per person. Going out for diving needs to hire boat @ about RM250/- per person. To visit Sipadan permit got to apply one or two weeks in advance. We met some orang putih from Finland and Italy. The manager is also a white man. It is quite relaxing to stay but has limited space to move around as it is surround by sea. Okay for one night stay. Hope the information here helps.
